Privacy Policy
Last updated: 16 May 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how OwnIt ("OwnIt", "we", "us") collects, uses, stores and shares information when you use our website at ownit4u.in and our application at app.ownit4u.in. We follow the Information Technology Act, 2000 and the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (DPDP Act).
1. Information we collect
We collect the following categories of information:
- Account information — your name, mobile number, email address, business name, GSTIN (if you provide it) and password (stored in hashed form).
- Business data — the customer, supplier, product, invoice, payment and udhaar records you create inside the app. This data belongs to you; we hold it only to provide the Service.
- Payment information — processed by our payment partner Razorpay. We receive transaction confirmations but do not store your full card or bank details.
- Usage and device data — IP address, browser, device type, pages visited and basic analytics, used to improve the Service and detect abuse.
- Communications — records of support tickets, emails and WhatsApp messages you send us.
2. How we use information
- To provide, secure and operate the Service.
- To process payments and issue receipts and invoices.
- To send transactional messages such as OTPs, payment receipts and account alerts.
- To respond to support requests and improve our features.
- To send service updates and, with your consent, occasional product news.
- To meet legal, tax and regulatory obligations.
3. Sharing of information
We do not sell your personal or business data. We share information only with trusted service providers who help us run OwnIt, under written confidentiality and data protection commitments:
- Razorpay Software Private Limited — payment processing.
- Cloud hosting and database providers — secure storage of your data.
- Email and messaging providers — for transactional and support communication.
- Analytics providers (such as Google Analytics 4) — in an aggregated form to understand usage.
- Government authorities — only when required by law, court order or legitimate legal process.
4. Cookies and analytics
We use a small number of essential cookies to keep you signed in and to remember your preferences. We also use Google Analytics 4 to understand traffic patterns. You can block or delete cookies through your browser settings; some parts of the Service may not work fully without them.
5. Data retention
We keep your account and business data for as long as your account is active. After cancellation we keep it for a reasonable period (typically 90 days) so you can reactivate or export it, after which it is deleted from our active systems. Records required to be kept for tax, accounting or legal reasons may be retained for longer.
6. Security
We use industry-standard safeguards including TLS encryption in transit, encrypted database storage, access controls and regular backups. No system is completely secure; please use a strong password and keep your login credentials confidential.
7. Your rights
Under the DPDP Act and other applicable laws, you have the right to:
- access the personal data we hold about you;
- request correction of inaccurate or incomplete data;
- request deletion of your account and associated personal data;
- withdraw consent for non-essential processing such as marketing communication;
- raise a grievance with our Grievance Officer (see section 10).
To exercise any of these rights, write to us at contact@ownit4u.in.
8. Children
OwnIt is intended for business owners aged 18 or above and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal data of children.
9. Changes to this Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be notified by email or in-app notice. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision.
